Complaint Background:
You may or may not have enjoyed my rant about ARGOS so I'd thought I'd share this complaint too, as this was happening at the same time as the ARGOS saga.I ordered a sideboard from TESCO direct (Did I mention that they are in competition with ARGOS?). It arrived 3 weeks later (about the same time as the 2x wardrobes from Argos). VISIBLY damaged as the packaging looked like it had been dragged around a racetrack! The van driver was unable to take it back on his van due to lack of space (hmmmm, hadn't it just come off his van!?).
I called up TESCO direct and was advised that they would pick-up the item, but oh, I would have to re-order (at my expense) the item and they will refund me in due course. Three weeks later my 'new' sideboard arrives (undamaged) with a £15 refund for inconvenience caused - well that should just about cover the cost of the Premium Rate call that I had to make for their incompetence.
Did I mention that ARGOS offered me a £20 ARGOS voucher for my inconvenience, after I'd told them that I would NEVER under ANY circumastances be buying anything from them and that I would rather boil my head in a vat of hot oil!!
The moral of this story is NEVER by from ARGOS or TESCO Direct as it will probably be out of stock, if it isn't you'll have to wait forever for it to arrive, when it does arrive chance are it will be damaged, if you have to return it make sure you've got a bank balance big enough to have to re-order the items in mutliple succession, and when you finally get what is printed in the glossy brochure, the quality is so bad it's only good for next years bonfire party!
